Hi, I'm Maryam!

In my couples therapy practice, I am deeply committed to helping partners build stronger, more connected relationships. Using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), I work with couples to address and resolve relational challenges by fostering a deeper understanding and emotional bond. My approach is both holistic and culturally sensitive, which means I take into account the whole person and the unique cultural backgrounds and dynamics that each partner brings into therapy.

I believe that every relationship is unique, and so I tailor my approach to meet the specific needs of each couple. Whether you are navigating communication difficulties, dealing with conflicts, or striving to rekindle your connection, my goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where both partners can openly express themselves. In this space, you will feel heard, valued, and empowered to work through challenges and foster lasting change together.

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Hi, I'm Anna!

I believe in developing a strong therapeutic relationship as the foundation for healing and growth and in cultivating a supportive and non-judgemental environment. I focus on Emotion-Focused Therapy and Internal Family Systems Therapy to support couples with a variety of challenges. In sessions, we will explore attachment styles/strategies as we work to build strong emotional connection and repair experiences of disconnection, injury or betrayal. Using approaches from Internal Family Systems, we will explore past experiences that influence our behaviour and perception in relationships. I aim to support both individuals in developing a greater understanding of themselves and their patterns of behaviour in relationships as well as of their partner’s inner world.

I bring an anti-oppressive, trauma-informed and strengths-based perspective to my work. I am a queer-identified person and I’m open to working with queer couples, as well as those in monogamous or polyamorous relationships. I have children and I enjoy working with people who want to explore some of the challenges and joys of parenting in a therapeutic setting.

Husainat Bakare, BIPOC, black, Muslim and Yoruba Speaking couples therapist smiling at the camera

Hi, I'm Husainat!

With a therapeutic presence of attentiveness, respect, non-judgment, and compassion, I provide couples with a safe space to explore their relationship challenges. I use an anti-oppressive, intersectional, and culturally sensitive lens that recognizes and supports each client’s unique cultural identity and context.

In my work as a couple’s therapist, I work with couples to develop a relationship that thrives with secure emotional bonds, effective and respectful communication, and healthy conflict resolution. To achieve this, I primarily use Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) which concentrates on the role of emotions and emotional communication in the ways we interact.

We will work on improving the compassion and acceptance that you and your partner (s) show each other to help all parties become more understanding of and responsive to each other’s needs. The goal is always for your relationship to become a haven for vulnerability, growth, and a safe and trusting emotional connection.

Counselling Intern

Hi, I'm Danielle!

Our ability to communicate and feel connected to those we love and share our lives with may sometimes be impacted by various challenges. Using an emotionally focused approach, I help couples identify old patterns of interacting that are no longer working and guide them to find new ways of communicating and strengthening their emotional bond.

Together, we will use Emotion-Focused Therapy techniques to explore the negative cycles existing in your relationship, past experiences, trauma, attachment styles, needs, and fears. The goal is to enhance bonding and attachment within your relationship.
