I can help with: Anxiety, depression, sleep/insomnia, relationship issues, boundaries and people-pleasing, Christian counselling, trauma, grief/loss, self-esteem and life/career guidance

Approaches
Practicing primarily from my training in Emotion-Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), I also uphold an integrative approach in therapy, working collaboratively with patients that want to gain emotional resilience to navigate their daily lives and relationships with themselves and others. With patient consent and upon request, I also can integrate other theoretical frameworks into my practice such as Family Systems Theory and Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, and Christian Counselling.
My therapeutic style
Life can be tumultuous. Thoughts and emotions can get the best of us, especially in distressing contexts, and our interpersonal relationships and self-care can become more challenging.
My approach to mental health is holistic and based on each individual’s needs from a culturally sensitive, trauma-informed lens. Together, we can work towards goals and achieve resilience and empowerment to navigate life with more peace and ease.
Experience
Ariette, an emotions-focused therapist, has extensive experience supporting adults and adolescents dealing with various challenges. These include anxiety, workplace or academic-related stress, life transitions, relationship problems, and grief and loss. Ariette is particularly passionate about helping individuals navigate and heal from patterns of relational codependency, family dysfunction and people-pleasing through a lens of self-compassion, while empowering clients with techniques to set boundaries and self-soothe when distressed.
Ariette has experience helping clients presenting with anxiety, life stress, grief, trauma experiences, depression, or personality disorders. She has also facilitated psychoeducational workshops and groups for boundaries & distress tolerance. Outside of clinical settings, Ariette has previously volunteered for over 5 years as a youth counselor, fostering safe, positive mentorship relationships. Overall, she finds it fulfilling to empathetically journey alongside others and build them up.

More than just my work
I find movement and community is the best medicine, and I participate in maintaining my own mental health by attending drop-in dance, hot yoga, spin, or barre classes. The accountability to show up for myself and others is equally important!
